The MPPT VE.Can SmartSolar charger employs cutting-edge technology to convert solar energy into optimal battery charging power.
The SmartSolar charge controller can even recharge severely depleted batteries, operating with a battery voltage as low as 0 Volts, assuming the cells are not permanently sulfated or otherwise damaged.
Key features include:
-
Ultra-fast Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT): In cloudy skies with varying light intensity, an ultra-fast MPPT controller enhances energy harvest by up to 30% compared to PWM charge controllers and up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers.
-
Advanced Maximum Power Point Detection for partial shading conditions: When partial shading occurs, multiple maximum power points (MPP) may exist on the power voltage curve. Conventional MPPTs often lock to a local MPP, which may not be the optimal one. The SmartSolar algorithm consistently maximizes energy harvest by locking to the optimal MPP.
-
Outstanding conversion efficiency: No cooling fan is required, and maximum efficiency exceeds 98%.
-
Flexible charge algorithm: Fully programmable charge algorithm with eight pre-programmed algorithms selectable via a rotary switch (see manual for details).
-
Extensive electronic protection: Over-temperature protection, power derating when temperature rises, PV short circuit protection, PV reverse polarity protection, and PV reverse current protection.
-
Bluetooth Smart built-in.
The wireless solution for setting up, monitoring, updating, and synchronizing SmartSolar Charge Controllers.
It features an internal temperature sensor and optional external battery voltage, temperature, and current sensing via Bluetooth.
You can use a Smart Battery Sense, a BMV-712 Smart Battery Monitor, or a SmartShunt to communicate battery voltage and temperature (and current, in case of a BMV 712 or a SmartShunt) to one or more SmartSolar Charge Controllers.
For a wired data connection to a Color Control GX, other GX products, a PC, or other devices, you can use VE.Direct or VE.Can.
It has a fully discharged battery recovery function that will initiate charging even if the battery has been discharged to zero volts. It will also reconnect to a fully discharged Li-ion battery with an integrated disconnect function.
With VE.Can, you can synchronize up to 25 units and up to 10 units with Bluetooth.
You can use the remote on-off feature to connect, for example, to a VE.BUS BMS.
It has a programmable relay that can be programmed to trip on an alarm or other events.
Optionally, you can install a SmartSolar pluggable LCD display. Simply remove the rubber seal that protects the plug on the front of the controller and plug in the display.
