A solar charger harnesses energy from your solar panels and stores it in your batteries. Utilizing cutting-edge technology, SmartSolar optimizes energy harvesting, intelligently driving it to achieve full charge in the shortest possible time. SmartSolar also maintains battery health, extending its lifespan.
The SmartSolar charge controller can even recharge severely depleted batteries. It can operate with a battery voltage as low as 0 Volts, assuming the cells are not permanently sulfated or otherwise damaged.

- Bluetooth Smart built-in: The wireless solution for setup, monitoring, updating, and synchronizing SmartSolar Charge Controllers.
- Ultra-fast Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT): Especially beneficial in cloudy skies with changing light intensity, an ultra-fast MPPT controller can improve energy harvest by up to 30% compared to PWM charge controllers and up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers.
- Advanced Maximum Power Point Detection for partial shading conditions: If partial shading occurs, multiple maximum power points (MPP) may be present on the power-voltage curve. Conventional MPPTs often lock to a local MPP, which may not be the optimal one. The innovative SmartSolar algorithm ensures energy harvest is maximized by locking to the optimal MPP.

- Flexible charge algorithm:
Fully programmable charge algorithm (refer to the software page on Victron), and eight preprogrammed algorithms, selectable via a rotary switch (details in the manual).
Extensive electronic protection: over-temperature protection and power derating when the temperature rises. PV short circuit and reverse polarity protection. PV reverse current protection.
Internal temperature sensor: compensates for absorption and float charge voltage variations with temperature.
Optional external battery voltage, temperature, and current sensing via Bluetooth: a Smart Battery Sense, a BMV-712 Smart Battery Monitor, or a SmartShunt can be used to communicate battery voltage and temperature (and current, in case of a BMV 712 or a SmartShunt) to one or more SmartSolar Charge Controllers.
Synchronized parallel charging with Bluetooth: up to 10 units can be synchronized via Bluetooth.
Fully discharged battery recovery function: initiates charging even if the battery has been discharged to zero volts. Reconnects to a fully discharged Li-ion battery with an integrated disconnect function.
VE.Direct: for a wired data connection to a Color Control GX, other GX products, a PC, or other devices.
Remote on-off: to connect, for example, to a VE.BUS BMS.
Programmable relay: can be programmed to trigger on an alarm or other events.
Optional: SmartSolar pluggable LCD display: simply remove the rubber seal protecting the plug on the front of the controller, and plug in the display.
